STANDSTILL: Launch Post #1

It’s finally here. The week leading up to the launch of STANDSTILL is finally here. Eighteen months after the first draft, the final thing is ready to go out into the world and become accepted by as many people who want to read it.

In the build up to the launch, I’m going to be creating a series of posts - one each day - that will give you, the reader, a greater insight to STANDSTILL.

Today’s post is the most basic one. But also the most exciting. If you’re stumbling across this from nowhere and it is the first time you’ve seen it, then it will definitely be the most exciting. Hell, it even is for me and I’ve been through this entire thing a dozen times.

I first wrote STANDSTILL in October/November 2016, and then I left it to write a fantasy novel. I'm not too sure why, but I'm glad I did, because when I revisited STANDSTILL, I looked at it with a fresh, open mind almost a year later. The edits began October/November 2017, and now here we are. The book cover is done, the blurb finalised, the manuscript perfected.

And today’s post is going to be the “reveal” post, whereby I reveal to you the BLURB and BOOK COVER of STANDSTILL.

That’s right. The big stuff. So strap yourselves in, kick back, and be ready for your mind to be blown - although, not literally, otherwise I’d have a pretty big lawsuit and murder trial on my hands… but you get my point.

So, without much further ado, the BLURB:

THREE TRAINS. THREE DESTINATIONS. ONE EXPLOSIVE CONNECTION.

Summer time in the heart of London. It’s hot, it’s humid, and to make matters worse, the deadliest terrorist attack the city has ever seen is about to unfold.

During a normal day at the office, DC Jake Tanner receives a call from the terrorist group behind the attack, selecting him to save the lives of everyone on board. He is thrown head first into a large race against time through London’s Underground to meet the terrorist’s demands. If he arrives late or breaks one of the rules give to him, there will be consequences.

With the help of his partner, and some strangers along the way, Jake must use all of his skill, resilience and determination to solve a series of increasingly dangerous challenges and riddles, whilst battling his own internal demons risen from his past. The question is….can he do it in time?

TERRORISM JUST GOT PERSONAL.

I mean - wait, what!? Where did that come from? That’s the best god-darn blurb for a book I’ve ever read.

Well, maybe not, but I hope it wasn’t too far from the same levels of excitement you will undoubtedly get from the novel itself.

Anyway, that’s enough bragging about the novel. So it’s time to move onto the big one, the big daddy reveal - the BOOK COVER.

Firstly, a hand of thanks should go out to my graphic designer for creating this beauty. It took us a while and some back and forth over a couple of weeks, but we got there in the end and I can honestly say I think we have the best book cover to represent the brand of my book and the Jake Tanner series.
