CID 1: The Conspiracy: Episode 1 - Launch Post 2

When I first conceptualised the idea of writing from the beginning of Jake’s career, I knew I needed to start the series with a bang — and that it needed to be quite a memorable first book that would inspire readers to continue with the rest of the series. 

And so, I did exactly that: I started with a bang. 

Fortunately, I’d already come up with my antagonists without even realising it: The Crimsons. (What was left of their disbanded group, at least.)

With The Red Viper having ended the way it did, I knew it was quite an open ending and that there were still questions to be answered for The Crimsons. 

So I decided to bring them back for one last heist — and they wanted to do it with a bang. 

But then I needed to work out how I was going to do it. And so I did some planning and watching of true crime documentaries and gained some inspiration from programmes about bank robberies in the past and how they’ve gone about doing it in the past. 

I won’t give too much away because it’ll spoil the book, but there’s a device in there that’s an evil contraption. 

In all of their previous heists, The Crimsons have never shot/killed anyone nor have they abducted one. That’s about to change. 

But that wasn’t enough for me. I needed something else. 

Being a crime thriller author, I needed to add in some plot twists and turns, and so added the element of police corruption alongside some other betrayal elements. 

Again, I won’t give too much away, but the story forces Jake to question who he can trust.
